Visioning Workshop
The Visioning Workshops were the first in a series of community workshops for the City of Santa Clara General Plan Update. Approximately 130 people attended one of the two workshops held on June 21 and June 23. These workshops focused on visions and ideas for the future of the city. Participants were given a "Pop Quiz" on specific issues for the City, which included: Vision and Identity; Future Growth and Development; Environment and Open Space; Neighborhoods; and Transportation. Additionally, workshop participants created both individual and group visions for the city.
Environmental and Housing Workshop
The Environmental and Housing Workshop was held on August 4, 2008. Nearly 60 community members attended one or both of the workshops. During the Housing portion, City staff gave a presentation on City housing programs and policies; community members provided input on topics such as affordability, design, and locations for new housing development. The Environmental portion of the workshop offered community members an opportunity to share ideas about sustainability, natural resource protection, and environmental impacts of new development.
General Plan Environmental Impact Report (EIR) Scoping Meeting
The EIR Scoping Meeting was held on September 17, 2008, at 6pm, in the City Council Chambers. The general public and agency representatives were invited to discuss potential concerns, further define key environmental issues, identify feasible project alternatives, and discuss potential mitigation measures that may warrant analysis in the environmental document. Alternatives Workshop
The Alternatives Workshop was held on October 27, 2008, from 6pm to 8pm, at the Santa Clara Senior Center. The agenda included a short presentation of opportunities and challenges within the City, followed by an interactive workshop where participants identified land use concepts and alternatives in key focus areas. Preferred Progressive Plan Open House
The Preferred Progressive Plan and the key goals of the General Plan Update were presented in an Open House on April 27, 2009. Community members had the opportunity to learn about progress to date and offer feedback on the evolving Plan.
